At the moment there are so many things that I want to do.
I am developing a business project in partnership with a colleague, I’ve got 2 other blogs I want to develop and some ideas for sites that require custom programming that would probably take to long for me to do myself.
I think about doing work on one project as a reward if I finish something on a different project.
Once I get a section of the business project finished I’m going to work on contacting outsourcers for one of my own projects. Once that’s finished I’m going to work on customising my blog.
It’s great that I like doing something that I can earn money from but I’ve got to be careful that I don’t spend every available hour in front of the computer.
But they do saythat entrepreneurs tend to work very long hours, hopefully I qualify as an entrepreneur and not as an internet addict. I did manage to stay away from the computer for 4 whole days over the new year, there’s hope for me yet.

Entrepreneurs do tend to spend a great deal of time working, especially as their building up their businesses from a start.
Are you getting enough sleep?
Are you meeting all of your important interpersonal obligations?
Are you remaining sufficiently active?
Are you happy?
If you answer YES across the board, don’t worry too much about the computer time. If you have a few NO answers, you might need to make a few changes!
That’s good advice Alan, thanks.
I do keep a good schedule in general, my wife makes sure that I don’t spend all night on the keyboard – she works 9 to 5 so I try to keep my hours synced with hers.
I’m the same scoby, always trying to make sure I don’t anger the other half.
Best to do PC work during working hours and have family time later
I think that giving yourself time to work on the “fun” projects as a way of rewarding yourself for making it through “the grind” is a fine idea.
Obviously, it would be better if every project could be non-stop fun, but that might not be too likely for everyone, huh?
That’s a good point, I definitely try to get the work out of the way before doing the projects that I’m really excited about.
Have a read of Stephen Covey’s “7 Habits of Highly Effective People” . a must read in my opinion!
Hi Scoby,
This is off topic, sorry but I’ve tried to email you using the email address on the about page. I get a delivery failed email back. Can you contact me? Its in regard to CakePHP.
