Getting money from Google for the first time

by Declan on November 12, 2006

Despite the optimistic title for this article, I haven’t actually gotten my google check yet. But since I have been getting a few clicks of late I thought I’d have everything set up so that when I reach my minimum amount, my payment would go through immediately.

There’s a notice at the top of my account page to say that I’ll have to take action before I can receive a payment. Once I clicked this, I was told how to validate my payment method.

I selected EFT (electronic funds transfer) so that the money would go directly into my current (checking) account. Google asked me for my banking details and then transferred a random (small) amount of money into the account.
In order to confirm that this was actually my account I had to report back to them with the amount that showed up in my account.

One €0.14 payment later and my account is good to go.

Not the adsense payment I’ve been dreaming of but It’s a start :)

Well, at least it’s available now. When I started with AdSense, you got a cheque in dollars. That was the only option.

I can understand if it takes a bit longer but I’ve heard stories of people being charged ludicrous amounts just to cash a dollar cheque.

EFT seems to be a really convenient option.

EFT is the job, I’ve had it go into my AIB a/c around the 27/28 of each month. But with the current Dollar/Euro exchange rate…. well that’s another thing all together ;)
