If any of you happen to be regular readers of this blog you’ll have noticed that there hasn’t been anything new here in a while.
What have I been up to?
I’ve been doing a lot of programming for the business project and falling foul of the 80-20 rule (Pareto principle). The final 20% of the job has taken about 80% of my time. I’ve finally gotten a beta version online and we’re going to tweak and improve it over the next few days. I’m not expecting any huge problems though and I’m really glad to have finally made some progress.
Because I’ve spent so much time on this I haven’t made much progress in my other online efforts. One thing I have done is sign up to a paid forum.
I know I’m supposed to be earning money from the internet rather than spending it but I really felt like this would be worth it.
The forum I joined is called Wealthy Affiliate (affiliate link) and its goal is to teach its members how to become successful marketers online.
I’ve been frequenting webmaster forums for a few years now and I’ve seen “The next best thing” over and over again. “Only $147 dollars” to find out how to make money with a system that will stop working a week from now.
At Wealthy Affiliate, rather than focus on a single technique or method they explain instead how to identify and find a market. How to find people that have a problem and then help them find a product that can fix it.
There’s also a range of different ways you can use to get sales depending on how much time/money you have and what your skills are: writing, programming etc.
It’s a much more sustainable way to approach business and I’ve already learned a number of techniques I’m going to use on my Learn Japanese sites.
I’m going to write a proper review in the next couple of days, I hope to provide some results from my first affiliate marketing PPC campaign.
stay tuned.
