I was born in Tipperary but moved to Dublin a number of years ago. While studying Computer Science in college I got a job working as a VB6 programmer in a company specialising in call centre and telephony software. I got to learn a lot about software development on a larger scale than I had seen before.I had the fastest internet connection I’ve ever used and I even got to bombard the CEO’s phone with more than 300 text messages in a hour because of a minor software bug I introduced.
Good times.
After I went back to college though, I realised that I really wanted to be my own boss. I was reading more and more about internet entrepreneurs/publishers. People who make their living by setting up websites and earning money through sales/advertising/affiliates.
If I could earn money this way I’d be able to work anywhere in the world that had an internet connection.
It’s a constant learning process and there’s so many ways of potentially earning money that it’s hard to know where to start.
I’m trying to create useful and unique websites that people are happy to use and recommend. Rather than chase after topics that could be the most lucrative I’m trying to find a balance between earning potential and personal interest. I can improve my knowledge on a subject and hopefully earn a living doing what I love.
